Lent:
A time of Reflection and Renewal
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and spans 40 days, excluding Sundays, culminating in the celebration of Easter Sunday. The 40-day duration is symbolic, echoing the time Jesus Christ spent fasting in the wilderness, as described in the Bible.
Lent is characterized by three key practices: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. These traditions encourage individuals to deepen their relationship with God, cultivate self-discipline, and extend kindness to others, particularly those in need. Fasting often involves abstaining from certain foods or indulgences as a way to focus on spiritual growth and reflection.
The season also includes significant milestones such as Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and Holy Week, a period of intense spiritual contemplation that leads up to Good Friday, marking Jesus' crucifixion, and Easter, celebrating His resurrection.
For many, Lent is a profound journey of introspection, repentance, and renewal. It’s a time to evaluate one's life, seek forgiveness, and realign with faith, hope, and love.
